HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

Or belated New Year if you prefer. We are feeling great about how 2008 ended and are extremely hopeful that this year will be just as awesome.   Who wants to start 2009 out on a high note?  Well, I'm sure Cody did...and probably some of you out there too.  I bet you're looking for new music to help you kick off your winter doldrums.  Well, our new year's resolution is to keep sharing awesome new music with you.  You totally luck out.

Howlies: Trippin' With Howlies [In-Stores 2/3]

So what do we have to start off the year with?  The Howlies.  The Howlies full-length debut album comes out on February 3rd from OverUnder Records.  "Tripping with Howlies" is sure to pump some energy into these long winter nights.  How do I know?  Well, its the first day back from our holiday break and my energy shot right up as the first track started playing in the office.  You've probably heard about "Sea Level" by now.  Its been bumping along on the interweb for a while now.  Named a Spin magazine artist of the day in early December (with a free download of the track "Chimera") and an artist to watch out for by Paste magazine, you're sure to hear much more about the

Howlies this year.

"Atlanta, GA, quartet Howlies' upcoming debut, Trippin' with Howlies, is like a rock history textbook written by the classroom's smart alecs...Drawing influence from rock'n'roll's greats -- from the Velvet Underground's loose jangle and the Stooges' brash punk to Chuck Berry's '50s teen boogie and Sam Cooke's candy-coated doo-wop -- ...one things remains constant -- light-hearted fun." -Spin.com

Recorded over 42 hours in California with production by Kim Fowley (Modern Lovers, Gene Vincent) Tripping with the Howlies is sure to bring some fun into the new year for you.  Check out their live show as they continue to criss-cross the country after a fall filled with CMJ appearances and a hometown new year's eve show!

Fairmont: Transcendence [In-Stores soon!]

New Jersey has done it again. No, not that... that's gross. They brought us a delightful album from our friends Fairmont. Here at Flea we're HUGE Fairmont fans. We've seen them live like a trillion times and they've always been great.

"Musically the band has always been tight, but with Transcendence, Fairmont takes great strides forward in terms of songwriting. Songs of disillusion and despair have long defined the band, and their latest record is not likely to change those impressions, but the organ-heavy track "Everyone Hates A Critic" and the sing-along "Being & Nothingness" are certain to win over a few more fans. Negativity never sounded so good."
- John B. Moore | Innocent Words Magazine

Seriously... Carry this record.  At the very least check out the tunes online.  You won't be sorry. This record will be available through Edge and Electric Fetus. If you did not get a promo with the recent Howlies package we sent out and would like one, please email us and we'll send it out.

In general news two amazing events just took place. For starters Pitchfork just reviewed Mason Proper's OLLY OXEN FREE released by Dovecote and gave it a 6.9! You can check out that review HERE.

AND... Say Hi signed to Barsuk records and will be releasing an album March 3rd. We couldn't be more excited that two of our long-time friends (and occasional drinking partners) formed an alliance to bring you what we promise is nothing short of awesome.
