Hello again, Did anyone else have unseasonably warm weather yesterday? It was 86 up here in New England. Rather than scorch in the scary sun I spent my yesterday inside, shades drawn with a six-pack and my record player. In my bliss I came to a conclusion: There is no such thing as a good spring ale. It's just an awkward transitional period between a spicy winter warmer and an [insert unlikely beer fruit] summer twister. Prove me wrong. Send all spring brew recommendations to chris@flea-marketing.com I don't want a black hole in my beverage rotation. I did, however, listen to some awesome music yesterday that'll be coming your way soon. For starters, our friends at Dovecote are releasing two pretty awesome records by two pretty awesome bands: Hooray For Earth, and The Futureheads. Check out below for some info on those releases. Also, there's a Menomena single out on 7" from our friends at Barsuk. While we're on topic, here's the phonetic: <bahr-sook>, my friend called it <bear-suck> yesterday accidently. It made me scratch my head and wonder a little. Barsuk is also releasing Blunt Mechanic's "World Record" on 4.20. I've been trying to make a relationship between the release date and the band name and have come up empty. Blunt. April 20. Am I reaching? Probably. Check it out |

HOORAY FOR EARTH "MOMO" [06.01] |

![]() |
Dovecote recently signed a band called Hooray For Earth that you will soon all know and love. They are preparing to release the highly anticipated "MOMO" EP on June 1. Don't get left behind and make sure you order yours from RedEye. You can get the record on CD format or the very special and attractive CLEAR VINYL. This Boston/New York band is nothing short of a good listen and will give you that summer-drive feeling you probably want after this cold, snowy winter. "A little bit 80s synth pop, a little bit indie rock and a hell of a good time." (New York Press) You can catch them this summer on the tour of all tours, alongside The Pains of Being Pure at Heart and Surfer Blood. That's right. Enjoy the instant hipster cred. As always we would love to send you to one of these shows. PLEASE DON'T HESITATE to ask us for tickets! We'll hook it up.

THE FUTUREHEADS "The Chaos" [06.01] |

![]() |
We are very happy (and proud) to announce that our good friends over at Dovecote (RedEye) will be releasing the new Futureheads record! And we have come up with some spectacular ways for you to sell a whole bunch of 'em! The record comes out on June 1, but starting April 27, you will be able to pre-sell it at the store. Every customer who pre-orders the CD or LP (both gorgeous, and both priced to move) from you will be able to walk out that day with an exclusive 7" and a download card for the whole record (take that internet)! If anyone would like to participate in this promotion, please let us know. All we ask is that you don't ring it up or scan it until they come back to pick it up week of release. If you don't really do pre-orders, and would rather just grab a quantity of 7"s for week of release to use as value-adds that is perfectly fine too. Just let us know how many you'll be bringing in first week and we'll send you that many 7"s. |

MENOMENA SINGLE! "PILGRIM'S PROGRESS" |
||||||
![]() |
Sometimes Pitchfork says it best. Yesterday was one of those times: "Portland indie rockers Menomena release their third fourth long player on July 27 via Barsuk It's called Mines. The band is also releasing the song 'Pilgrim's Progress' on a limited-edition split 7" with the Helio Sequence on Record Store Day, April 17." (Pitchfork.com) This single is a limited and rare piece, available only on Record Store Day. RedEye still has a few left in stock, so feel free to go ahead an up those orders. Now that buzz about the new Menomena record is starting to spread, you know that this will be one of the hotter items that day!

And now for the newest morsel of Barsuk goodness. The band is Blunt Mechanic. Some of you may be familiar with Seattle native Ben Barnett already from when he was a band called Kind Of Like Spitting. Blunt Mechanic has been playing shows all over the Pacific Northwest and will continue to do so in support of his new record “World Record,” available on Barsuk (RedEye) on April 20. If anyone would like a play copy of it, please let us know and we’ll get one right out to you. |
