Hello again,

It's damn near 80 degrees out and we've got our office windows wide open. This would be perfect if it wasn't for all the cars just below us sitting at the stoplight. The music we like gets drowned out by the styling's of Nickelback, Moby, and Hannah Montana (just to name a few from the last 10 minutes). We have managed to turn it into a game. We guess what the car and the person driving looks like based on their music, then send our office assistant Melissa over to confirm our suspicions. So far AJ's in the lead proving he's more capable of profiling than an Arizona state trooper. Duncan Hunter?

Anyway, we want to borrow a moment of your time to talk about Pearly Gate Music's self-titled debut album [Barsuk/RedEye]. Below you'll find all sorts of reasons why you make sure to get your orders in. I would attempt to convey my feelings about Pearly Gate Music in one sentence, but won't since Daytrotter put it so well stating Pearly Gate is... "one of the most promising new artists in the country... and he's absolutely got our attention, our ears." daytrotter.com

That is all

PEARLY GATE MUSIC "s/t" [5/18]

PLANTS

Pearly Gate Music's self-titled debut album is out on Barsuk Records (RedEye) on May 18th.  Pearly Gate Music is a very gifted gentleman named Zach Tillman (draw your own conclusions to genealogy).

If you haven't seen the press in MOJO (4 stars) or UNCUT (3 stars) you've probably stumbled across PGM on Daytrotter or one of your other favorite publications. Basically, if you haven't seen this I would bet the rock you live under is heavy.

Pearly Gate Music "makes beautiful, challenging, simple-yet-complicated songs structured around his extraordinary singing, vivid lyrics, and unusual melodic sense. Sometimes conjuring the feeling of a punk rock religious revival in an old-time prairie tent, sometimes stripped down to spare acoustic-guitar-and-lovely-croon..." (Barsuk.com)
