Hey everyone, It's been crazy-busy as we head into the summer. Tour dates are falling into place, records are being released, and Flea is moving to a new office WITH windows. We may soon become distracted by the scantily clad tourists walking our streets this summer, so before we start staring off we're happy to present to you three amazing records that we think are a perfect way to launch the summer season. For starters, our friends at Barsuk Records spoil us by bringing us the new Wooden Birds, AND the new Viva Voce. Below you'll find tour dates for both bands so you can make sure you can prepare for their arrivals and catch their live shows. (As always, if you're a store you can ask us for tickets to any show and we'll hook you up) Also, the new self-titled Dave Alvin and The Guilty Women will be released by our friends at Yep Roc Records. Check out below for more info. Does anyone else think Captain Kirk would totally beat Wolverine in a fist fight? |

WOODEN BIRDS: "Magnolia" [05.12.09][LP OUT NOW!] |

Native Texan Andrew Kenny, best known as the singer/songwriter behind mellow indie favorites the American Analog Set, gives you his latest project and is his best effort to date. The Wooden Birds' first album, Magnolia, comes out on Barsuk Records and is available through RedEye distribution. Fans of the AmAnSet will recognize his voice and song writing immediately, but the arrangements on Magnolia are more vocal and percussion heavy than anything he's done before. The vinyl is currently available through RedEye. Check out their tour dates below and make sure you check them out when they're in your hometown. |

"After two years of non-stop touring, band founders Kevin and Anita Robinson took an entire year off (unheard of for them) to clear their heads and focus on other projects. Now Viva Voce are back with Rose City, an album they wrote, arranged, and recorded all in one furious month." - V. The record is brought to you by our friends at Barsuk Records and, as always, is available through RedEye distribution. Below you'll find Viva Voce's upcoming tour dates. Be sure not to miss them if they come to your town, their live show is incredible.

Yep Roc Records presents to you the latest installment from Dave Alvin. The new self-titled record is available from RedEye distribution. Here's what Yep Roc had to say about Mr. Alvin's new diggs: "Following the recent death of Dave's best friend and Guilty Men accordionist Chris Gaffney in early 2008, Alvin decided to move in an exciting new musical direction. In October 2008 he stepped onto the stage of the Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival with an all-star, all-female group. Since dubbed The Guilty Women, the group consists of Americana scene vets Cindy Cashdollar, Nina Gerber, Laurie Lewis, Sarah Brown, Amy Farris, Christy McWilson and Lisa Pankrantz. Special guests include Marcia Ball and Susie Thompson. The self-titled debut |

from this unique assemblage of players, led by Alvin, is a spirited collection of thoughtful yet dynamic tunes featuring world-class musicianship worthy of his now legendary pedigree." Yep Roc.
