Aren't Tuesday's wonderful? We think so. We love being able to mosey on down to our local record store to pick up new stuff. Like this record:

Pearly Gate Music "s/t" [OUT TODAY] - Barsuk|RedEye

For those of you who brought Pearly Gate's record in we hope it's doing well for you. For those who didn't we hope you're not missing out. This record is getting a ton of love here at Flea, and we want to pass that love on to you. (The friendly kind of love, not the spoon-y kind... unless you're into that sort of thing).

This week we've got The Dead Weather's new record from Warner Bros. (WEA). Details and tour dates below.

The Futureheads Value-ad 7" is available here at Flea. Just let us know how many you think you'll need and we'll send you the vinyl featuring Heartbeat Song and Struck Dumb off their new record The Chaos [6.01 Dovecote|RedEye].

Tons of tour dates below including Hooray For Earth's ("MOMO" out 6.01 Dovecote|RedEye) tour with The Pains of Being Pure at Heart and Surfer Blood. Remember to let us know if you want to go to a show. We've got the hook up.

Since there hasn't been a newsletter since, did anyone see our little seaside New Hampshire town on the news recently? We had bit of a bomb scare involving a Greyhound bus right in downtown Portsmouth a block from the Flea office. Biggest event in town since the Anderson's down the street got 2 TV's (one's even in color!) Of course the bomb was nonexistent, and was actually an over reaction from some woman on the bus afraid of anyone who didn't look or sound like her... At least the whole incident provided hours of entertainment while we siphoned hundreds of thousands of tax dollars into some bigot's intolerant mouth. I hope she had to ride the bus with those people the rest of the way to New York after the 9 hour standoff. Sweet, uncomforablte justice.

RIP Portsmouth, NH native Ronnie James Dio. We always dreamed of him moving back here so we could hang - Sadly, this is one dream we won't have fulfilled. \m/

THE DEAD WEATHER "Sea of Cowards" [OUT NOW!]

Line
DW

Superhero Jack White took time out of his busy schedule with the Raconteurs, the White Stripes ,producing other artists, and doing soundtrack work on the side (a lot, right?) to bring to you ANOTHER release from The Dead Weather. If you're expecting another blues-esque record like Horehound you're in for either a pleasant surprise, or a moderate disappointment. I say moderate, because this record is a departure from Horehound in a sense that it's more polished. The raw intensity of Horehound made that record, just as the polished folk-rock sound makes Sea of Cowards a great listen.
Mosshart (The Kills) brings more intensity to this record and matches up with White's vocals brilliantly. Fertita (QotSA) and Lawrence (Raconteurs) balance out the rest.
Pitchfork gives Sea of Cowards a 7.8, and had THIS to say.
If you haven't already brought it in, The record is available from Warner Bros. (WEA)
