Hey all! Sun's out, windows open, scantily clad tourists are congregating, and legs are kicked up on my desk. Could anyone ask for anything more? Okay, I guess t-shirts that capitalize on current events. If the news didn't reach your corner of the globe you can read about what happened in our quaint seaside town by clicking the picture below: The shirt isn't a fashion item at Flea, but we've seen quite a few out on the street. I'm having a hard time deciding if this is cool or not. On one hand, I support local business and am glad to see one of our shops has found a... niche? On the other hand, I wouldn't wear a t-shirt that read "Alzheimer's patients: 9-11, we'll (occasionally) forget". Poor taste on two counts. Oh well. SO, Hooray For Earth's amazing new EP, "Momo" is being released by our friends at Dovecote Records (RedEye). This record is awesome, and they'll be tearing up the east coast with fellow indie rock hype-darlings Pains of Being Pure at Heart, and Surfer Blood this summer (dates below). Also from Dovecote, the wait is over and the Futureheads new release "The Chaos" is upon us.The band is touring the US for the first time in FOUR YEARS (dates below), and we think this record is going to be a pretty big deal, so don't get left behind. We've got totally sweet 7" value-adds to send you for the release. Just let us know how many you think you'll need and we'll hook you up. Shall we? |

Hooray for Earth's video for single Surrounded By Your Friends has been making the rounds on the interwebs. Look for it, there are crazy muppet style puppets. Editor's note: Use caution when viewing while drunk and/or high. Whoa. Available from Dovecote (RedEye) for the first time physically, Momo is: "Bringing laid back fuzzy synths, Beach Boys melodies and reverb smothered vocals to the indie shop-floor Hooray For Earth have developed a neat line in warm, trippy song writing" (breakingmorewaves.blogspot.com). Check them out this summer opening for Pains Of Being Pure at Heart and Surfer Blood. |

THE FUTUREHEADS "The Chaos" [06.01] |

There's no Kate Bush cover this time around, just some great new tunes. Another record brought to you by our friends at Dovecote (RedEye). "the title [the chaos] itself is almost misleading when attached to an album of songs this surefooted, this carefully constructed from those familiar angular guitars and vocals thrown back and forth. The first thing you notice about The Chaos is its unrelentingly breakneck speed. The energy is packed densely into these songs like dark matter." (drownedinsound.com). The album sounds huge, and is upbeat from start to finish. The songs sound meticulously calculated and beg for an immediate second listen. The Chaos is a great record for a summer drive. |
