HOT OUTSIDE. It's not supposed to be 90 degrees in New Hampshire, ever. It wouldn't be so bad if it weren't 99% humid. I may as well walk into the ocean and breathe sea water, which I would totally do if it weren't for the GREAT WHITE SHARKS finding their way to the New England coast. I live here for three reasons: No scary natural disasters, mild summers, and no friggen sharks. We're an earthquake away from me calling it quits and moving to Vermont, no matter how upside-down-New-Hampshire they may be. We've got three records coming out tomorrow I'm pretty psyched about. Steel Train come back with an energetic recount of their early days. They're releasing their self-titled record on their own Terrible Thrills [Fontana] label. More info below. The wait for Maps & Atlases full-length release is over. Their new record, "Perch Patchwork" comes to us courtesy of Barsuk Records [RedEye]. If your a math [pop] rock nerd like I am than this will be right up your alley. Info on this release is also below. The UK's alternative dance darlings, Delphic, are releasing "Acolyte" [Dangerbird | ADA]. More info on the record and my disdain for Oasis below. Hey, something good had to come from Manchester, UK. I've been told they have a pretty good 'futbol' team. I'm not going to pretend to give a damn about soccer though. All you World Cup enthusiasts are bigger bandwagoners than Lakers fans. (sorry Brian - yeah, we're still bitter) Cheers, **AJ asked I point out he loves Oasis, and in no way do my statements reflect his opinions of that terrible mess of a band** Hey! Watch this too. Dangerbird Records and Rekords Rekords got married. Best dinosaur scat video I've seen to date, and I spend a lot of time researching such things.

STEEL TRAIN "s/t" [06.29] |

Released on their own Terrible Thrills [Fontana] label, this New Jersey band finally has something for you after 2007's Trampoline. The record is very Modest Mouse at times, very Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, and even a bit Arcade Fire at some points. Suggest it to everyone that bought the Local Natives record this year. According to front-man Jack Antonoff, ...'It's all positive aggression. That's the vibe of the record and the shows' (spin.com). Having toured with Tegan and Sara, The Fray & Hanson this spring, Steel Train hit the festival circuit [SXSW/Coachella/ Bamboozle] before heading out on their own headlining tour in support of the new album this summer. |

DELPHIC "Acolyte" [06.29] |

Feel like maybe you've heard Delphic before? Perhaps its from the countless songs they've had on TV, or maybe its because they've toured with Phoenix, Bloc Party, Orbital, Friendly Fires and La Roux. Or, you've got a friend from the UK with a pulse. In any case, If you haven't heard them yet, then now is the time to pop it in and see what the huge craze overseas is all about. The record is available stateside on Dangerbird Records [ADA]. It's dancey, it's electronic, it's fun. And hey, if those trend setting Brit's like it, it's gotta be good, right?* Seriously, it's a solid release. NME says its "The first great debut of 2010" and Q Magazine calls it "A New Order for the 21st Century" *They'll apologize for Oasis when we apologize for every individual Jonas. |
