Hey all,

We've got four things this week that excite us and should excite you too. Before we get rolling check out Maps & Atlases and The Willie Brown Bears Marching Band performing "The Charm" on Yourstru.ly (Click ME!)

Uno: The new Menomena record "Mines" is coming out next week! All of you who received and played your promos are probably as giddy about it as we are. Those of you who have the promo and haven't popped it in yet, get on it or we will find you. Those of you who didn't receive the promo yet, don't worry we won't come after you... yet.

Dos: Mark Olson (a founding member of alt-country heroes The Jayhawks) will be releasing his new album "Many Colored Kite". It's his second solo album since departing from the 'Hawks and follow-up project, The Creekdippers. We also have a very limited number of autographed booklets for this that you can use as a value-add with purchase, so if you'd like a few please hit us up ASAP at fleas@flea-marketing.com.

Tres: Ra Ra Riot's new record, "The Orchard" will be out 07.24. More info and exciting news related to the release will be in your inbox next week. Scouts honor.

Quartro: Darker My Love is also on its way to your ears and hearts with their new record "Alive As You Are". It'll be out in mid August. Details coming soon!

Last week someone told me I only talk about drinking in the newsletters, and it makes me sound like a drunk. This week I'm making a special effort to drink a beer while writing this. Cause deal with it, that's why.

Cheers mormons.

Oh, and this:

No word on whether they chose Team Edward or Team Jacob

MENOMENA "Mines" [07.27]

Line Meomena

Menomena’s follow up to 2008’s "Friend and Foe" will be coming to you from your good friends at Barsuk (RedEye). Their newest record "Mines" is a little more aggressive than their former works but in an awesome way (if you ask us).

Paste gives the record a respectful 8.5 out of 10, stating "Mines is Menomena at its best—mentally relentless and physically ruthless." - (Paste Magazine)

Like I said before, please check this out if you haven't already. It's ear candy front to back and begs for more listens. Also, apparently if you hold the CD case open and stare at the covers for long enough it's one of those magic optical thingys. I don't see it. AJ does.

I've been told it's a scooner, not a sailboat.

MARK OLSON "Many Colored Kite" [07.27]

Line
Line Mark Olson

Here we have the new full-length from the co-founder of the legendary Americana band The Jayhawks- Mark Olson. As a New York Times Critics pick, Many Colored Kite is a soul-searching album focusing on loss and change.

“The affirmation inherent in his lyrics and his keen sense of melody make this album a deeply pleasurable experience.” (rykodisc.com)

Think of this as a new, but still familiar Mark Olson. You may find that all of your hipster customers who usually frown at the word Americana are asking you who is playing overhead when you have this record on. It has a vibe that really brings him more into the ‘now,’ without alienating any of his previous followers. Thanks to producer Beau Raymond (Devendra Banhart, Little Joy) and the all-star group of Olson, Neal Casal (The Cardinals, Ryan Adam’s band), and drummer Danny Frankel (Laurie Anderson, Fiona Apple), Kite is sure to be the wide-eyed, inspirational album to take you into the last month of summer.
