Hello friends, It is with deep sadness and heartache to tell you I will no longer be the FleaMail author/ accounting nerd / and general office mumbler here at Flea. After two short and amazing years it's time for me to move on, trade in band t-shirts for a tie, chinos, a bad haircut, and a clean face, and dive head first into corporate America. When trying to decide what I'll miss most about this incredible experience I'm torn between the people I work with, the music I work with, and the retailers I've had the pleasure of getting to know. When the smoke settles these are by far the best people in the coolest industry on the planet. I can't think of a more appropriate ending to my time here than to share with you what I think is an incredible live performance from an incredible band responsible for getting me into the musicians Flea works with. My first day at Flea, one of the first of dozens of records I took home to listen to was Menomena's "Friend and Foe". First listen was passive, the second, questionable. By the third listen I felt years of terrible pop-punk music and top 40 nonsense become miraculously deleted from my personal charts. This band was responsible for opening the floodgates to a world of music I would have otherwise turned my nose up to. Below you'll find a link to Menomena performing "Killemall" of their new record, Mines, on Jimmy Fallon. This record is brought to you by our friends at Barsuk Records. Thank you all for the friendship, the musical recommendations, and the constant reminder that independent retail deserves every bit of support there is to offer. Until we cross paths again, Chris |
