Hi everyone,

We've had a busy couple of weeks here at Flea preparing for the release of these fine records. We've been short an AJ lately because he spent all last week running around SoCal going to shows, dodging wildfires, and operating on no sleep. He's now back, exhausted, relatively solber, and full on In & Out Burger. We're all wondering why he wouldn't bring any back for us... we'll assume he planned on it, but got hungry on his 6 hour flight.

Anyhoo, there's quite a few things coming your way including the new David Bazan record out on Barsuk, and three (count em') Yep Roc titles from Reverend Horton Heart, The Apples in Stereo, and Liam Finn & Eliza Jane. Yeah, it's a pretty awesome week of releases.

DAVID BAZAN: "Curse Your Branches" [Out Now!]

Bazan

We'd like to introduce you to the new David Bazan record released on Barsuk titled Curse Your Branches. This record is very special to us at Flea. Bazan is mainly known for his work with the influential group Pedro the Lion. Remember them?
Many of you have been waiting a long time to hear this record. Here is some further encouragement to give it a spin that we agree greatly with:

“His most powerful and interesting album thus far.” - Filter

“Deeply personal and jaded… pitched roughly between the fireside balladry of mid-period R.E.M. and the languid melodic radiance of Red House

Painters.” - Under The Radar.
You can get a hold of Bazan's record, as always, from RedEye Distribution

REVEREND HORTON HEAT: "Laughin' and Cryin" [Out Now!]

Rev

Here's the new Reverend Horton Heat album out on Yep Roc Records. It's called "Laughin' and Cryin'" is the first new Rev album since 2004's Revival. Laughin' and Cryin' is a slight departure from the rockabilly/psychobilly that you know from Reverend Horton Heat. But don't worry,
"While Laughin' and Cryin' marks a detour from the hard-driving punkabilly, this time tending toward honk, there's still some shit-kickers ["Death Metal Guys"] to let you know that Jim Heath and crew still mean business. Laughin' and Cryin' with the Reverend Horton Heat [is] a record full of country-heavy tunes about bad habits, well-meaning but clueless husbands, ever-expanding beer-guts and, well, Texas."(yeproc.com).

So sit back and enjoy Reverend Horton Heat's version of some good ol' country tunes that haven't been shined and glossed to death. As always, you can get it through RedEye.

THE APPLES IN STEREO: "#1 Hits Explosion" [Out Now!]

line Apples

Also available now, The Apples in Stereo bring you a collection of sixteen of their hits with #1 Hits Explosion.

"The indie-rock flag wavers of sunny psychedelic rock" (tractor-beam.com) hand picked the sixteen tracks that they hope will hold you over until their next album appears sometime in 2010. You can also always check out Robert Schneider's appearance on the Colbert Report as he sings Colbert's praises; just another way that the Apples in Stereo "pursue new sounds and different directions, trying to make something special" (yeproc.com).

We hope #1 Hits Explosion keeps your ears happy until Apples in Stereo bring you more new sounds next year.

LIAM FINN & ELIZA JANE: "Champagne in Seashells" [Out Now!]

line
line lnie
line Liam Next up is an EP from Liam Finn that we hope tides you over till he has time for another full length. (Which won’t be long.) He's been touring extensively since the release of his critically acclaimed album I'll Be Lightning back in 2007 so I guess he's got an excuse for only having enough material for an EP. Especially since some of those tour dates were with Eddie Vedder. And there’s even more exciting tour coming right around the corner. Out Yep Roc, Champagne in Seashells is a collaboration with Finn's childhood friend and Australian folkie Eliza-Jane Barnes.

"[Champagne in Seashells]'s five songs are bigger and bolder [than I'll Be Lightning], revealing new lyrical complexities and pointing in daring new musical directions" (yeproc.com).
