As if by magic I complain about it being winter already and we get back to back Sunny and 80 degree days. I feel like I unpacked all of my argyle Huxtable-esque sweaters too early now, and don't even get me started about how I already took all of my air conditioners out. Fall beer tastes awful in warm weather, figure it out mother nature or I swear I'll switch to liquor...

That being said, there is a bright side to this week. I'm doing all of my complaining while listening to a few great records on repeat: Monsters of Folk, Sea Wolf and the new One EskimO. Info on those records below, along with more tour dates and a Grant-Lee Phillips EPK

MONSTER OF FOLK "s/t" [OUT NOW!]

Some of us have been waiting a very long time for this Monsters of Folk album. Katherine has been waiting for this album since she saw Conor Oberst, M.Ward, Jim James, and Mike Mogis at the Newport Folk Festival five years ago. Hopefully you're as excited about this as those four musical talents were in making it.
"This record is all over the map, stylistically-you've got snatches of R&B, country, rock 'n' roll, stringband music, electro-folk and more coming through" (Paste magazine, September 2009 issue # 56).
Which is just how the guys wanted it. The name "Monsters of Folk" might have started as a bit of a joke between the four musicians, but the album process never was. Available now on Shangri-La Music (ADA), we hope you enjoy the Monsters of Folk as much as we do. Please let us know if you’d like an MoF t-shirt or extra flats for a display!

SEA WOLF "White Water, White Bloom" [OUT NOW!]

Dangerbird Records (ADA) will be releasing Sea Wolf's second full-length album White Water, White Bloom. Written mostly in Montreal, the album was recorded in Omaha with the help of Mike Mogis among others.
White Water, White Bloom "reshape[s] the classic aspects of traditional folk, folk rock and chamber pop—but these bucolic elements are intercut with aggressive bursts of raw emotion sharpened to a serrated edge—making for a rich, vibrant sound" (dangerbirdrecords.com).
"From the opening orchestral swell of “Wicked Blood,” to the driving rock of “O Maria!” and culminating with the dreamy folk farewell of “Winter’s Heir,” Sea Wolf deftly navigates a variety of musical waters, leaving a reel of striking imagery in their wake" (bandweblogs.com).
Be sure to catch Sea Wolf on tour this fall in support of White Water, White Bloom.

ONE ESKIMO "s/t" [OUT NOW!]

Also out now is the new full-length from One EskimO. Hailing from the UK, One EskimO were stateside this summer opening for Tori Amos on her recent tour. The self-titled album will be released by our good friends at Shangri-La (ADA).
"The sounds One Eskimo create are ambient, warm and familiar, the songs heartfelt and genuine. Kristian Leontiou’s voice is spine-tingling, rich and soulful, connecting with every lyric beautifully. It only takes a couple of songs to feel blissed out and totally immersed in the One Eskimo vibe- their sound is quirky like Gotye, touching like Damien Rice, chilled like Groove Armada" (uk.real.com).
If you were a fan of the Gorillaz' animation, take note; the same company, Passion Pictures, is behind One Eskimo's penguin, eskimo, giraffe, and monkey.
