Hello again!

I've finally recovered from the best event our quiet seaside New England town has to offer: Brewfest 2009! 30 brewers, 90 beer varieties, live music, and a bottomless glass. It's hard to imagine that the 3-hour sessions would be long enough to enjoy so many beverages, and it wasn't... but I did manage to drink enough to where the hippie-jam-bands made some sort of sense. The round-up? There is only one good Pumpkin Ale. period.

This week we have a new Lackthereof record to talk about, as well as plenty of interesting things in music news including a SPIN feature on Madness and Chuck Prophet special packaging.

Oh, and Katherine got a new car... she's a REALLY big Sea Wolf fan in case you didn't notice.

LACKTHEREOF "Retrospective 1998-2008, or I Was a Christian Emo Twentysomething" [Out 10.13]

LTO
amazing, huh?

This new release from Lackthereof kicks off a new distribution partnership between label FILMguerrero that released early Lackthereof records and Barsuk (RedEye) that released 'Your Anchor' in 2008. You remember that Lackthereof is Danny Seim from Menomena, right?

"Over [Lackthereof]'s ten year history, [Seim's recordings] have ranged from lo-fi to lush, acoustic to synthetic, poppy to noisy. A Retrospective 1998-2008 contains the best of Seim's Lackthereof work, selected by him from among a decade of remarkable electronic beat experiments, lo-fi indie dub, simple acoustic soundscapes, challenging art pieces, and more" (barsuk.com).

I can't stress how amazing the artwork on this record is and it all comes in an eco-friendly package which features 20 of Danny's original illustrations. Seriously, it's amazing
