Hey Everyone! "We will be at the Portsmouth Brewery tonight drinking Smuttynose Summer with the rest of the town cheering on our dear hockey team. We are very proud of them. Especially Tim Thomas! That guy is a monster right? Anyhoo who needs to drive all the way to bean town and pay $2000 just to sit in the nosebleeds when we can just hang here in PTown drinking our favorite beer and hanging with our homies. Then we just walk over to Gilleys and have a double double with cheese and a large order of poutine and call it a night after the Bruins take the game tonight. Well put. Check out all of the great releases we have for tomorrow, you're gonna love 'em all. And we love that Hooray For Earth got a 7.8 on Pitchfork! Go get 'em boys! Everyone is on tour! Go see shows! Let us know what we can put you on the list for! |

Infantree "Would Work" [June 7] |

![]() |
Coming your way from LA, we've got the first full-length release by Infantree for you. This version is a special edition and has a bonus DVD and everything! Would Work is out on June 7th on Vapor Records. Ever heard of that guy Neil Young? Maybe? Well, Vapor Records is his record label. "Infantree’s well-balanced, sometimes brash, steady rock rhythm make you want to set off down by the river and hang underneath the harvest moon. Would Work’s 12 tracks hearten and flow, sending an opportune surge of folk through our veins just in time to transport us out of a heavily dosed shoegaze. Mandolins, banjos, and acoustic guitars intermingle with the uniting voices of all three vocalists...Infantree exudes refined originality well beyond their years" (indieshuffle.com). "This is truly the sort of album that you want to expose your friends to" (larecord.com). So, go ahead, play Would Work overhead; your customers will thank you. |

Hooray For Earth "True Loves" [June 7] |

Next up in our trifecta of releases for June 7th is the new full-length album from Hooray For Earth. Big ups to them for scoring a 7.9 on Pitchfork! Check that out HERE. True Loves comes to you from Dovecote Records (Redeye). If you've been hiding out under a rock, let us share some information with you. First, #1 US bad guy Bin Laden is dead. Second, you've missed an amazing video for the first single, "True Loves." Go treat your eyes to that. "This out-of-nowhere monster suggests that NYC outfit Hooray For Earth are capable of capturing...magic. All the right elements are in place, from the song's polyrhythmic start-stop beat to the sliding sighs that act as some sort of wordless chorus; but what really sells "True Loves" is the song's billowy melody and light reggae lilt, which contrast with the hint of bass grind underneath" (pitchfork.com). Bin Laden never got to see them perform, but you can catch Hooray For Earth this June as they tour with Architecture in Helsinki in support of True Loves. |

The Wooden Birds "Two Matchsticks" [June 7] |
||||||
![]() |
Also up on June 7th for you is the new Wooden Birds album. Former American Analog Set-er Andrew Kenny's new album Two Matchsticks is once again brought your way by our friends at Barsuk Records (Redeye). "The gently guitar-wielding, sweetly lo-fi outfit the Wooden Birds" has some special friends performing on this album that you might recognize. Ben Gibbard, members of Ola Podrida, and previous Wooden Birds touring musicians Matt Pond and Leslie Sisson (undertheradarmag,com). "While Two Matchsticks keeps the percussive affects of the Wooden Birds' debut, the band drew on the strengths of their live show in writing the album, making it a stronger record sonically, more driven, upbeat and fuller than the Birds' previous efforts...There is also a heat and a passion behind Kenny's voice and throughout the album's lyrics, and the return of the vibraphone's warm tones will also be a welcome sound to AmAnSet fans" (barsuk.com). Two Matchsticks is perfect for early summer nights; make those evenings even better and catch the Wooden Birds on tour. We absolutely love this record. Please pay extra special attention to it. |
